Renewal Requirements

An individual seeking a mortgage loan originator (MLO) license from the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) is required to complete 20 hours of NMLS-approved education. Of this requirement, two hours of California-specific law must be completed. This online self-study course satisfies the two hours of required state-specific education.

Within this course, students will spend time reviewing state regulations and acts impacting MLO activities; perusing scenarios, examples, and case studies; and completing activities to demonstrate understanding of the content.

NMLS ID Registration: 

The NMLS system is used to process MLO licensing requests for all 50 states. A unique NMLS ID is required to report all course completions. Creating an account and obtaining an ID number is a simple process that can be completed here.

Licensing Exam:
